Our Journey Begins

What started as a few traps around our home quickly evolved into a larger conservation effort. With one of us working in conservation and the other immersed in environmental care, our passion for trapping grew stronger. With support from generous locals and skilled hands, we built and have placed over 80 traps across 100 acres of very special land.

The special part about our trapping initiative is its focus on native ngāhere. This isn’t just your average stroll in the park; it’s about safeguarding a unique piece of whenua for future generations to enjoy. The catch rates have been promising, and we’ve set various types of traps to address different pest challenges.

Flora, Our Trusty Companion

Our savvy dachshund, Flora, takes her role as our trapper dog very seriously! She’s become an invaluable asset on our trapline, helping us monitor the traps and ensure everything is running smoothly. Every week, we check the traps together, ensuring our efforts make a real impact on the ecosystem.

Supporting Native Growth

Our PIKO BU trapline allows native rakau (trees) to thrive. The more we trap, the healthier our plants become, which directly benefits the rongoā (medicinal plants) we use in our balms. This cycle of care not only supports the environment but also enhances the quality of the products we offer to you.
